Purpose |
|

The Property Management Service Authority (PMSA) has recognized The Hong Kong Chapter of International Facility Management Association (IFMA) a professional body for the credential of Certificated Facility Manager (CFM). In April 2025, PMSA has approved a new route for member of "Professional Member (PMSA)" stream, enabling IFMA members with “Professional” or “Young Professional” membership to qualify if they meet the IFMA’s HK Chapter’s specified requirements. |

Eligibility Requirements for Application |
|
|
To become a member of Professional Member (PMSA), applicants must meet the following criteria: |
|
a) |
Affiliations |
|
|
The applicant must be a IFMA member with either a Professional or Young Professional membership. |
|
b) |
Academic Qualifications |
|
|
The applicant must graduate from one of the universities listed below. |
|
|
1) City University of Hong Kong - Master of Arts in Housing and Urban Management (Housing Stream) 2) City University of Hong Kong - Master of Arts in Housing Studies 3) Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Master of Science in Facility Management 4) Hong Kong Metropolitan University - BBA(Hons) in Real Estate and Facilities Management 5) University of Hong Kong - Master of Urban Studies and Housing Management (Housing Management (Professional) Stream) 6) Chinese University of Hong Kong - Bachelor of Business Administration Programme in Hospitality and Real Estate 7) Hong Kong Polytechnic University - Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Property Management 8) Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Professional Education and Executive Development - Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Housing Management 9) Hong Kong Polytechnic University, School of Professional Education and Executive Development - Bachelor of Science (Honours) in Property and Asset Management |

Experience |

The applicant should accumulate at least three (3) years of property and facility management work experience. |
|
d) |
Facility Management Practice Report (FMPR) |
|
|
The applicant MUST submit the FMPR that highlights and demonstrates his/her qualifications and work experiences. Such experiences must encompass and cover all the eleven (11) CFM core competencies in conjunction with the PMSA (7) categories of property management service at a level appropriate for the Professional Member (PMSA) https://www.ifma.org/credentials/certified-facility-manager-cfm/ https://www.pmsa.org.hk/en/licensing-regime/property-management-services The applicant should evaluate his/her career and experiences to identify key projects that demonstrate its competencies. They need to specify their contributions, roles, and responsibilities in particular career episodes, emphasizing achievements that improved the organization's operational efficiency, resource management, and cost savings. Note: The Applicant must submit a record of twenty (20) hours of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) for each of the past 5 years from the date of application. |

Interview |
|
|
Applicant with less than 5 years of relevant experience MUST attend an interview with the Board of Directors of the IFMA Hong Kong Chapter, which will be conducted either in person or virtually. |

3. |
Application Fee |
|
|
A non-refundable application fee of HK$500.00 must be paid when submitting the Application Form. |
|
4. |
Membership and Fee |
|
|
Members of Professional Members (PMSA) must maintain their "IFMA “Professional" or "Young Professional" membership and pay the annual fee accordingly in order to continue the status of Professional Membership of PMSA. |

5. |
Continue Professional Development |
|
|
Member of Professional Members (PMSA) are required to complete and submit twenty (20) hours of CPD annually to maintain their membership. |
