This presentation describes the risk-based asset management system that MTR Corporation adopts to manage performance of new and existing railways assets throughout their asset lives. The asset management system is developed based on the asset management policy and supported by 1.) Business demand identification processes to ensure it suits the Corporation’s strategies and business goals, 2.) Integrated Asset Management IT Platform called RAILASSURE which captures both financial and project costing to facilitate effective management of maintenance and procurement of assets, capturing of asset maintenance history and cost etc. 3.) Asset life assurance and asset replacement programme to facilitate long term asset replacement planning and 4.) Management processes to govern the introduction, modification, performance monitoring and disposal of assets so as to ensure that assets will meet business demand in a cost-effective manner.

Speaker Profile: | ||
Mr. Cheng has over 27 years of railway engineering experience in design, maintenance and management of engineering staff of different disciplines. He is currently the General Manager- Technical & Engineering Services of MTR Corporation and responsible for managing all technical and engineering Services, including asset engineering, train service engineering, civil and building engineering, communication network & software engineering, automatic fare collection engineering, and environmental engineering, of the Operating Railway. His main areas of work in the field of asset management consist of application of new technology to the railway, maximizing asset utilization, operations assurance, strategy establishment for asset life assurance and replacement of major assets | ||
