IFMA & BOMA seek enhanced value for Members

Officers from the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International and IFMA met recently and are pursuing new opportunities for joint collaborative efforts in the delivery of products and services to their members and stakeholders. The two associations have worked together on a recent facilities study, and have provided content at their respective annual conferences, one of several instances of assistance for each other's educational initiatives. Several BOMA local associations and IFMA chapters have been cooperating on programs as well.

"This meeting signals the importance IFMA places on working with other not for profit organizations in order to deliver the finest products and services to our members," said IFMA Chairman Sheila Sheridan. "BOMA has long believed that partnering with groups like IFMA will significantly enhance our ability to serve our members' needs in the areas of research, professional development, and advocacy," said BOMA Chairman Steven Ford. Both associations believe further cooperation will advance the interests of the built environment & commercial real estate.

RICS TO PUBLISH UK TENANT SATISFACTION INDEX

For the first time the UK property industry is to get detailed information on how satisfied occupiers are with their commercial premises, in the form of the RICS Tenant Satisfaction Index to be published in December. Until now, lack of data has made it difficult for landlords to assess customer satisfaction in the way that other industries take for granted. The new index will show the impact on tenant satisfaction of each of the range of services that a building provides. It will cover both physical aspects, such as the size of a reception area or the degree of sound-proofing, and commercial elements like lease renewals and incentives.

For further details on the index, take a look at the RICS website article at:

Something for Hong Kong landlords to consider, perhaps?

Bizarre calls to facilities Help Desk

No doubt we all have our own experiences of bewildering calls received by property and facilities help desks. The following are actual calls placed with a UK retail bank but if you think you can improve upon these, please let us know!
Please can you collect helium from the branch: Branch Manager wants this removed as he is afraid of possible explosion.
Scottish gentleman rang asking if we could tell him where he could get hold of a clock he¡¦d seen in one of our branches; the clock shows the time and the day. The gentleman would like one for his mother who is demented after a stroke and thinks that every day is Tuesday.
