IFMA is the recognized leader in FM education, providing life-long, on-site and online learning opportunities. IFMA's educational curriculum helps you strengthen your workplace skills, increasing your value as an indispensable member of the business team.
Until recently, these learning opportunities were not available in Hong Kong, except through on-line courses run at a distance from Houston , Texas .
The Hong Kong Chapter of IFMA now has approved trainers located in Hong Kong to bring you instructor-led access to some of the excellent education courses developed by IFMA.
The courses available in Hong Kong provide and prepare you to obtain the two key facility management credentials offered by IFMA - the Facility Management Professional (FMP) and the Certified Facility Manager (CFM).
The Business of FM course is a four day course designed to provide a broad overview of the nine competency areas included in the facility management discipline.
The Operations & Maintenance course is a two day course that focuses on the second largest portion of an organizations budget. It covers the majority of the operations that must be managed by the Facility Manager on a day-to-day basis.
The two day Planning and Project Management course looks at the essential planning elements of facility management from integration of the company's real estate plan with the strategic plan, and development of the facility plan that identifies the changes required to allow the strategic plan to be fully completed. These changes are conducted through projects and much of the course focuses on the preparation, planning and implementation of projects.
The facility manager is a planner, organizer, leader, coordinator and evaluator and these fundamental management skills are reflected in his day-to-day activities to properly plan and organize facility functions. To do this he must manage the personnel assigned to the facility functions, administer those facility functions and deliver the facility services with sustained quality. The Leadership & Management course covers all of the above topics over a two day period.
Having taken all the above four courses you will be in a position to apply for the Facility Management Professional (FMP) credential. As a knowledge-based credential, no examination is required. However to progress from FMP to become a Certified Facility Manager (CFM), a competency-based credential, you will need to take the CFM Exam.
To prepare for this exam the Chapter offers the CFM Exam Review Course . This is a two day instructor-led course where the instructor is an experience CFM, approved by IFMA to facilitate the course, following completion of a train-the-trainer course conducted by IFMA. The course includes as course material the CFM Exam Review Course Manual and Workbook and Self-Study Guide.
All the above courses will be run by the Hong Kong Chapter of IFMA at least once each year. Follow the links provided for more details of each course and keep an eye on the
Events page of the Chapter web site for details of up and coming courses.
