Credentials
Your badge of professionalism is the credentials you are able to include after your name on your business card and when you sign off formal documents. They are an attestation of your competency to act in the facility management profession.
As the world's largest and most widely recognized international association for professional facility managers, certification by IFMA under one of their certification schemes shows to the world and, in particular your fellow professionals, the standard of professionalism in facility management you have attained.
IFMA offer three levels of certification:

Learn the language of FM through the Essentials of Facility Management, a workshop series to help those who are new to the field of FM. This program is perfect for those just entering the facility management field, or wanting to deepen their knowledge of FM. Included in the program are three workshop series consisting of a total of 10 modules. The content focuses on basic facility management knowledge and concepts. The primary goal of this program is to address the facility manager’s role in the tactical planning for scheduling and accomplishing FM tasks. |

IFMA’s Facility Management Professional (FMP) designation is a knowledge-based credential that will help to accelerate an FM's transition into the profession. By earning your FMP credential, you will improve your knowledge, enhance your skills, and gain immediate credibility with employers, clients and peers. The Certified Facility Manager® (CFM) credential sets the industry standard for ensuring the knowledge and competence of practicing facility managers. Now more than ever, recognizing competency, establishing benchmarks and setting performance standards are vital to the global economy. Never before have public and private sector employers relied as much on certification organizations as they do today. Professional associations are now taking a lead role in the development of credentialing programs, and IFMA’s CFM program was the first, and is still the only globally recognized, certification in facility management. IFMA’s certification process is designed to assess competency in the field through work experience, education and the ability to pass a comprehensive exam.
