Ir. Dr. John D. Gilleard
| John recently stepped down as Associate Dean of the Faculty of Construction & Land Use and Professor / Head of the Department of Building Services Engineering at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU). Prior to joining the PolyU, John worked in the US, Singapore and the UK. He established Asia’s first graduate programme in Facility Management in 1996. |  |
He is a graduate of the Universities of Manchester (BSc), Liverpool (MEng) and Salford (PhD). He is a member of the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers, the International Facility Management Association and CoreNET Global. John received IFMA’s prestigious ‘Educator of the Year Award’ in 1998, and was elected an IFMA Fellow in 2002. John taught for many years the Facility Management: Professional Practice, International Strategic Facility Management, Facility Planning and Project Management and Benchmarking studies subjects at Master’s level. He has also presented numerous lectures, seminars and workshops around the globe, including presentations at IFMA’s World Workplace Conferences in the US, Europe and Japan, CoreNet Global conferences in Beijing and Hong Kong as well as to numerous academic events. He is currently a partner with the Sloane Partnership, a FM training consultancy specializing in the areas of facility management, benchmarking and business communications. |
